Now onto Washington!

Our first five or so days in the great state of Washington were spent at Lake Chelan, which is about 4 hours east of Seattle. D.B.'s family has been doing summer vacations at this lake pretty much forever. Ask any one of them, it's their favorite place in the whole world, and they are right, it is pretty great there.

Most of our time is spent, laying on the dock, taking boat rides, sleeping, eating, and hanging out with family. Usually water-skiing is also a big part of the trip, but between D.B.'s back not exactly feeling great (understatement of the year) and the water being a bit choppy, sadly no skiing was done this time around.

Here are the highlights!This is a picture of the boat we spent many hours riding on over the week.Here are some of the passengers that rode that boat. In case you were interested, that's Paco my sister-in-law's dog, and D.B. I was also a passenger, but could mostly be found behind the camera. I was definitely not found in the water that was less that 70 degrees. Our pool is kept at 82, and my body has adjusted to that temperature. This is a shot of the shore. The water is incredibly deep (1486 feet deep at the deepest point) and shore goes straight up. There are no sandy beaches found around these parts, but it sure is beautiful. Looking towards the north all you could really see was haze. There were forest fires at the very north end of the lake and it was so smokey at some points that my camera couldn't even begin to focus. The lake is 55 miles long from the north to south, so we were very far away from the fires. This is Virg and Cheryl's famous peach pie. D.B. lives for this pie. It completes him. He eats it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. It has to be baked in a 9x13 pan because of supply and demand. I don't like peaches. D.B. almost considered not marrying me because of this. Then he realized it only meant more pie for him, and we were engaged shortly after.
Maybe I didn't get peach pie, but I did get to do a little wine tasting at one of many local wineries.

Overall we had a great, relaxing trip to Lake Chelan, and can't wait for next August to roll back around so we can head over there again. Hopefully next year D.B.'s back will be feeling better so he can ski, and maybe we'll be introducing the next generation of Sanders to this family tradition!!!
