Cutest Laundry in Town: Month 9!

Our sweet Sydney turned 9 months old on the 15th.  The nine month mark is a big one for me as an adoptive mom.  It was that way with Colbie too.  To me, 9-months means that Syd has been with me as long as she was with her birth mom (even though this actually happened at 8 months given her early arrival).  It means she has heard my voice, felt my touch, and known my love just the same (or at least kind of).  Maybe it shouldn’t be a big deal, but for me...it is.

Onto the real purpose of this post, Syd, who has recently earned the nickname “Hurricane Syd” because she is fast and destructive.  She is seriously so fast crawling, pulling to stands, putting stuff in her mouth, you name it, she does it with great speed.  Compared to our “world’s easiest” first child, Sydney throws caution to the wind, and looks for danger around every corner, knocking over whatever she can on the way.  If I had to wager a bet on it, she will be the first of our children wearing a cast.  But...she is also a total love, who adores smooches and snuggling and being rocked and sung to.  She gives the biggest, cheesiest smiles and has the funniest horse little voice (think 80 year old woman with emphysema baby voice).

As far as the 9-month stats go:

weight: 18lb 6 oz, 41% (1 oz smaller than her sister at this age)
height: 27.4 inches 53% (.6 inches smaller than her sister!)

Likes:
Eating, especially finger foods...especially puffs and cheerios!

Baths, which can make this girl so happy and can stop a full on meltdown.

Climbing up on things (including the mini trampoline shown below) and up the stairs.

and then trying to get down like a big girl:
(I swear to you, she was having a great time here)

Climbing under things and over things:

And being rocked every night:
World’s most kissable lips!

Other favorites include
her sister
the dog
music
sticking anything and everything in her mouth
hanging upside down
swimming
pulling to a stand
making attempts to get to the dog food.

Dislikes:

waiting for bottles
being restrained in car seats and high chairs
bibs
hats
bath time being over
me or the hubs leaving the room (can we say separation anxiety!?!)
Face plants:

(Syd’s first bloody injury.  Cut gums.  She recovered very nicely and is totally fine.  I think Colbie has yet to recover from this :))

And that is our sweet Syd, who is constant entertainment and pure joy to be around.

Happy 9-months Sydy!!!

  1. I would love to hear her 80-year-old voice. That is just hard to imagine on such a sweet little face.

I like your perspective on the 9-month mark.
