On our drive around The Ring of Kerry, we went off the beaten path a little bit and found this:
This is Ballycarberry Castle, and it was most certainly one of the highlights of the trip for me.
It was so much fun to pull off the road and just go and climb up, in, and around this crazy old castle. We've decided that this is probably where local teenagers come at night to be up to no good, which beats where we all went in high school (kidding mom!).
We only spent a few minutes here, but I will never forget it.
The best part of this castle:
it's pretty much in someone's back yard.
Makes our backyard swimming pool seem pretty lame.
