Good Food, Good Friends: Thanksgiving 2013

We woke up early on Thanksgiving this year, bundled the girls up and ventured out to run a 5k/10k.  It was a balmy 17 degrees or so, and there was a lot of standing waiting and wondering if this whole scene was really worth it in the end.  Turns out it was.  Despite the slow time on my behalf  (I blame pushing a child in a stroller, or maybe it was the complete lack of training) I had a blast running with some of my work friends. Everyone took turns each pushing a stroller at any given time (we had the girls in two single strollers vs one double) and getting everyone, and the two girls over the finish line was truly a group effort.  The hubs, per usual, crushed the 10k.  I can’t remember what his time was, but he finished in the top 10% of everyone, if not higher.  Oh, and this is a big race, like 9,000 people big.

After we headed home, got warmed up and popped the big bird in the oven(the turkey weighed the same as Sydney), friends headed over.  In all, we had 15 people surrounding our tables.  Lots of food, and a wonderful time.  D.B.’s mom had come to town, but other than that, our table was surrounded by other friends who live in town and who’s families are states away.

Afternoon snacks while dinner prep continues:

Syd and her boyfriend Connor, who also weighed as much as the turkey :)

Colbie and her BFF, Keira Skypping with Aunt KC:

Thanksgiving’s #1 fan gobbling up her dinner:

Everyone but the photographer, Gaga :)

The after dinner scene, it wasn’t a pretty one:

The after dinner Colbie and Keira scene, much prettier:

Truly a day to be thankful for: health, friends, family, food, laughter, babies and playing dress-ups.

And shortly after clean up was complete, I was off to do some (highly successful) midnight shopping.
