You're All a Bunch of Pansies

Yesterday was a whopping 80 degrees here, and it was fantastic. Kids were at the park, people were on walks, blinding white legs were exposed after a cold winter of wearing only pants, and if you were at our house, yard work was done.

D.B. and I worked for a couple of hours on the front yard while C. took a nap, and when she woke up, she got her first taste of yard work too. Now before you call CPS, she was in the bjorn attached to the front of me while I raked. And to be perfectly honest, I'm pretty sure she loved it.

When we were just about finished up, our neighbors pulled into their driveway and M., the little 10 year old girl, ran over with a bunch of pansies for us! M.'s mom came over and hung out with Colbie on a blanket in the grass while M. and I got to work springifying our yard! It was so much fun! As we were digging the holes, we would find worms and M. would hold them in her hand so Colbie could see.
Since before we even moved in, we have always loved our house and neighborhood. The real truth is though, we hit the jackpot and feel so blessed that Colbie gets to grow up surrounded by such a great sense of community!!!

And not that it matters, but M. was adopted as a newborn too, and also happens to be part African American, which we think is pretty awesome for Colbie's sake!!!

  1. You're lucky to be in such a great neighborhood! And, you are right, it doesn't "matter" but it is great to be in a community with lots of different kinds of people :)
