D.C.Day2

Day two in D.C. was a little less touristy but just as great, with the exception of finding parking, that was pretty much a complete disaster.

We spent the morning walking around in the National Basilica, which was incredibly beautiful.

Then we headed down the street to the Franciscan Monastery and spent a little while walking around the grounds. This place was amazing because it was so quiet and peaceful despite being in the middle of a huge city.

Next we headed to the Newseum, where we spent close to three hours, and then headed back for a couple more the next morning. This is a new museum that is all things media. It had so much to see and read, and I would highly recommend everyone spend a minimum of 3-4 hours here during your next trip to D.C. If you have kids, there is a ton of stuff for them too. If you do decide to go, you should know that this is not a Smithsonian and does have a pretty steep admission charge. The tickets are good for two consecutive days, hence us heading back for day two.
Here is part of the Berlin Wall that was displayed:
The radio tower off of the second Twin Tower to fall. Behind it you can see all of the front pages of newspapers from around the world reporting the 9/11 attack:

A Starbucks cup that was in the top drawer of Tim Russert's desk. It has a great quote by Russert:
During our second day in D.C. we also had the privilege of getting a behind the scenes tour of The Library of Congress from my dad's friend, who is the Inspector General of the L.O.C. It was so cool getting to see stuff that is unavailable to the general public. I didn't get any pictures from inside because I wasn't sure what was allowed and what wasn't, sorry.
