Tuesday was Colbie's 18 month check up and it looks like she continues to be doing great!
Colbie weighed in at a rockin' 25lbs 7oz (65%)
and height of 32 inches (57%)
When I commented to the doctor about how she started off as such a tiny 15th percentile peanut, the pediatrician looked at C and laughed, saying that there really isn't an ounce of fat on C., and that she is "solid muscle" and will most likely be a "tall, lean, muscular girl". To which I thought, "crap, my kid is going to be stronger than me by the time she's three".
During the visit the doctor mentioned she was very impressed with Colbie's social skills and was amazed when C point to a book and say "caterpillar". Colbie has between 90-100 words right now and is starting to string two and three words together.
The one area that C doesn't excel at is that she isn't much for climbing. Although climbing on pretty much everything is considered a milestone, I consider myself the world's luckiest mom that she is a bit behind.
In maybe the most exciting news for Colbie, she is all done getting her shots, with the exception of her annual flu shot, until she is in kindergarden!!!!
During the entire visit, Colbie did a fantastic job coloring and playing so I could talk to the doctor. She also did a wonderful job during the actual exam!
So other than talking up a storm, a few of Colbie's favorites these days are:
Asparagus
C-r-a-c-k-e-r-s (we never actually say the word out loud)
Coloring
Being outside
Running
Elmo
Yoga (I'm not kidding, she loves doing her stretches)
Hugging
Swings
and Sharing
As far as least favorite things go:
Vegetables other asparagus
Having to get off of the swings
Diaper changes
Brushing our teeth
and coming in from outside
Overall Colbie continues to be "easy" and brings joy to our every day, although I'm not going to lie, we are starting to see some opinions emerging and less and less of our sweet, snuggly baby girl.

We have all the climbing and none of the language in our 18 months old. But with three older sisters talking up a storm, he doesn't have much need for words yet :).
ReplyDeleteI have a very petite friend, with an average sized husband (maybe 5'10"). They adopted a little boy who is half black, but they don't have any info on the birth father. At four, he is already nearly as tall as my seven year old, and wears shoes larger than my 8 year old. They laugh all the time at how he's going to be taller than either of his parents by the time he hits junior high.
Like Staci, our little 18-month-old will climb IN, ON, UNDER, and THROUGH EVERYTHING...but he is fine without saying a word. Crazy! Enjoy your sweet, chatty little girl. The opinionated-twos are just around the corner.
