Becoming a tradition

A year ago we packed up the car and drove to Nebraska to see our friends the Cunninghams.
(Nathaniel and D.B. were roommates in college)
(The hubs is still talking about the apple fritters seen in this picture)

We couldn't have been more excited when they called to tell us they were going to be in Wisconsin this summer and would love to visit.  How great that we could return the hospitality to them this year!!

It has been in the 90's all summer, but wouldn't you know the couple of days they were here were chilly.  But...they didn't stop all of the kids from jumping in the pool the second we gave them the go ahead.

And finding a pool trespasser!

And a little time was spent at the always popular "agua table"
In addition to swimming, we took the crew out for mac & cheese pizza at Ian's, toured the capitol and then headed to the park.  Oh, and during nap time Staci and I got to sit and drink coffee while munching on Oreos.  It was perfection.

Nathaniel teaching the girls a little bit about Wisconsin during our visit to the capitol.

Meanwhile Peter took off his shoes.  Don't worry Peter, anything goes in the Wisconsin State Capitol building, that has already been proven.

And what it looks like trying to get a family picture somewhere when you have four children:

We had such a great time, and hope that we get to see Nathaniel, Staci, MaryAnn, Ruth, Meg, Peter & baby #5 next summer!

Thanks again for coming guys!!!

  1. Even thought Marianne is m.i.a, I think the first family picture may be one of my favorites from our vacation :). Thanks again to Colbie for sharing all of her toys so generously during our visit, and to you for the oreos. Really, there is no better treat, anytime of day. :) Can't wait for next summer!
