Give me your tired, your hot, your sticky and glittery

I had to work six out of seven days right over the 4th of July, including the night of the 4th.  We weren't really planning on doing anything because of my work schedule and the fact that it's been in the triple digits lately.  But then, the morning of the 3rd, my good friend Jen called to ask me if we would be interested in attending a small town parade, and it includes a wagon/stroller/bike decorating contest.

What's that you say?  A decorating contest?!?!

WE ARE IN!!!!!!!

I mean, you didn't forget about last year already, did you?

So...with less than 24 hours to prepare, we came up with the Ellis Island theme, we met up half way across town to buy supplies, I went to work at the hospital, Jen went to work constructing the island, and we (ok, really it was Jen) created a masterpiece.

And they were the overall winners for most original ride!  Check out that trophy!

It wasn't even fair to the others when we showed up.

The girls rode around on their island and people stopped in their tracks.

And gave them victory high fives of course!

Victory lap, victory wave!

After the competition we all sat down in the shade to watch the parade.

And try popsicles for the first time!

And get very very tired from all of the excitement

Once we got home, it was time to cool off and check out the trophy.  Yah know, make sure it was official.

 Good news, it was!

Still tired out from the day, this was the only way I could get a shot of the whole outfit.

And then I baked the hubs a blackberry pie with a star on it:

Hope you all had a wonderful safe 4th!  And don't worry, we are already working on ideas for next year.  We certainly can't do lady liberty three years in a row!

  1. The stars and stripes bloomers put that outfit right over the edge! Or maybe the torch does, but the bloomers are still the icing on the cake :). Love it!
