Man vs. Towel Rack

So the wallpaper is officially all down and the wall repair has begun. Nobody really anticipated much wall repair before hand, but it turns out we were all wrong. A few of the rooms with wallpaper look like a dream, no patching necessary, but then there are the other rooms. This is a picture our our master bathroom.

What happened in this room is as follows: the house was built in 1976. The owners then decided wallpaper was awesome so why waste time painting or priming the walls ahead of time when you can just slap the paper right up? A few years later someone else thought they should try to take down the wallpaper. Turns out, without painting or priming, removing wallpaper is near impossible so they just wallpapered right over that. Now jump to the present, where the professionals have spent hours trying to tackle the room only to remove big chunks of the dry wall with the wallpaper. They have gone as far as they can so now the plan is to patch the entire room and start from scratch..yikes!

In other master bathroom excitement D.B. and I used a crow-bar to remove the toilet paper holder and towel rack. This would be why:
